Introducing Thorlabs, GmbH
Newton, New Jersey, May 30, 2003
– Thorlabs, Inc., a manufacturer of innovative photonics products, announces they have acquired Tektronix Munich, GmbH, a subsidiary of Tektronix, Inc. Formerly Profile Optische Systeme, GmbH, Tektronix Munich has earned a reputation for its high performance products that offer ease of use through the modularity of their design. PMD analytical instruments, DWDM sources and control modules, and laser diode instrumentation are representative of the company’s products.
Alex Cable, President and CEO of Thorlabs, said of the new acquisition, “The Profile/Tektronix Munich product line will serve to strengthen Thorlabs’ capabilities with a sophisticated line of optical test and measurement equipment. I have watched this group grow and develop over the years, and have always recognized the high level of engineering skill and science that is often a characteristic of German engineered products. I am really excited to welcome this dedicated group of scientists, engineers and technicians to the Thorlabs team.
Thorlabs, GmbH will remain based in the Munich area of Germany and will serve as the central hub for Thorlabs continued expansion within the European market.
