Thorlabs offers manual drives for use with our NanoMax™ and RollerBlock™ Stages. The DRV004 thumbscrew and DRV3 differential drive can also be used with modular quick-connect adapters to fit components with a standard Ø3/8" (Ø9.5 mm) or Ø10 mm mounting clamp; see the example to the right.

Thank you for your enquiry, To read the values for the DRV3 you can see the fine and coarse adjustment divisions with the coarse adjuster traveling 500 µm per revolution and the fine adjuster traveling 50 µm per revolution. The DM10B is similar to the DRV3 but the DM10B does not have a scale for the coarse movement. The DRV004 is just a thumbscrew and as such does not have any scales on it though like the others it has 500 µm of travel per resolution

Hello, when unscrewing the micro adjustment part, it eventually came off. We tried to screw it back but then how to replace the small ball inside ?

I will reach out to you to confirm I understand the ball bearing you refer to, as there are multiple in this assembly, but you should be able to reassemble this without much trouble. Once I have confirmed the exact issue I will assist with this.

I am designing to use this part as a micrometer fine adjustment for a microscope stage. What is the load limit (weight) for DM10B?

Response from Ben at Thorlabs: This matches the same load capacity as our DRV001, rated at 48 lbs (21.8 kg)

I have a question on the DM10B actuator. I think I get how the fine resolution is 0.5um: 50 um per turn, 50 divisions per turn so 1 um per division ... assume I can do a half division turn so 0.5um for fine resolution. With this same reasoning wouldn't I get 5um sensitivity for the coarse resolution ... how does one get to the 1um coarse sensitivity that's listed ?

The DRV004 Thumbscrew Drive is compatible with our NanoMax MAX300 and MAX600 series stages. The large-diameter knurled knob provides excellent sensitivity with 1 µm resolution over an 8 mm adjustment range. Simply unscrew the existing drive and fit the DRV004 drive.

When used with the optional MCA1 or MCA2 Modular Quick-Connect Adapters, the DRV004 drive can also be fitted to components with a standard Ø3/8" (Ø9.5 mm) or Ø10 mm mounting clamp. Additionally, the DRV004 drive can be combined with the DRV120 piezo drive, which adds 20 µm of electronically controlled piezo-actuated travel.

The DRV3 8 mm Differential Adjuster is a modular, quick-connect version of our DM10B adjuster featured below and is compatible with our NanoMax MAX300 and MAX600 series stages. Simply unscrew the existing drive and fit the DRV3 drive.

Two large knobs are provided for coarse and fine adjustment. The coarse adjustment provides 8 mm of travel at 500 µm per revolution, while the fine adjustment provides 300 µm travel at nominally 50 µm per revolution (fine graduation scale does not scale linearly with distance). When used with the optional MCA1 or MCA2 Modular Quick-Connect Adapters, the DRV3 drive can also be fitted to components with a standard Ø3/8" (Ø9.5 mm) or Ø10 mm mounting clamp. Additionally, the DRV3 drive can be combined with the DRV120 piezo drive, which adds 20 µm of electronically controlled piezo-actuated travel.

The DM10B High-Precision Adjuster offers high resolution and repeatability. The lever mechanism design multiplies the resolution of its high-precision fine adjustment threads, resulting in a small displacement of the spindle. This unique approach provides uniformly smooth motion that is largely independent of loading.

Two large knobs are provided for coarse and fine adjustment. The coarse adjustment provides 8 mm of travel, while the fine adjustment provides 300 µm travel. The DM10B drive has a Ø3/8" (Ø9.5 mm) mounting barrel and is compatible with our RollerBlock™ series of linear stages or any stage with a Ø3/8" (Ø9.5 mm) mounting clamp. This adjuster is not compatible with our MCA1 and MCA2 modular quick-connect adapters.
