Features

  • Adjustable Throughout a 50° Cone
  • Three 90° Adjustment Positions
  • 4-40 (M3 x 0.5), 8-32 (M4 x 0.7), or 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) Removable Double-Ended Setscrew
  • 8-32 (M4 x 0.7) or 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) Mounting Hole in Base
  • Three Setscrews for Locking and Tension Adjustment

These mounts feature a ball and socket mechanism that allows the mounting surface to be positioned anywhere within a 50° cone. Three cutouts in the base allow the mounting surface to be positioned at a 90° angle with respect to the mount's base. The rotating ball features a mounting surface with a removable double-ended setscrew. The position of the mounting surface can be locked in place using any of the three locking screws, which also function as tension adjusters.

The bottom of each base features an 8-32 (M4 x 0.7) or 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) threaded hole, making these mounts ideal for use with our optical posts and general optomechanics. The TRB1(/M) and TRB2(/M) mounts feature 8-32 (M4 x 0.7) and 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) setscrews, respectively, making them compatible with general optomech. The MTRB3(/M) mount has a 4-40 (M3 x 0.5) setscrew for compatibility with our mini-series components.

The production of a 1/4-20 version is currently scheduled. I estimate that it will be available online in 4 weeks. If you need one sooner please let tech support know and I'll do what I can to expedite the availability. Sincerely, Tyler - Mechanics Business Unit Leader

A 1/4-20 version would fit most camera, and would be more useful for me.

Thank you for bringing Paul's comments back to the forefront. Having a 1/4-20 version would be useful. The Mechanics group has a small backlog of projects right now so it might take a little while to get this project to the top of the list. Sincerely Tyler, Thorlabs Mechanics Business Unit

I second Paul's comments (2013-10-07) suggesting a 1/4-20 version (end and top threads): it would allow also to mount end to end 1" posts without the need for extra adapters, and directly mount any 1/4-20 platform or optomechanical element.

I thought the TRB1 would be useful to hold an IR viewer, with a BE1 to hold it to the table; alas the TRB1 is only available with male/female 8-32 threads at both ends and I'd need 1/4-20 at both ends.

Response from Chris at Thorlabs: Thank you for your feedback. We do not have a 1/4-20 version at this time, but it should still be possible to sue the TRB1 with a few thread adapters. You could use an AE8E25E adapter on the top end to give you the external 1/4-20 thread and an AS25E8E adapter on the bottom to allow you to connect to the BE1. Both can be found here: http://www.thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_id=1745

A response from Tyler at Thorlabs: The three locking screws are number 8-32 screws with a cone tip. The screw is three sixteenths of an inch long. We will contact you with a custom quote information.

Metric swivel base TRB1/M: is it possible to use 1 (or 3?) thumb screws in place of the 3 locking screws? If yes, please send part number.
